It’s always tempting to go with a company that offers you the lowest rate, however we would always recommend that a company’s reputation and experience be the more trusted metric when choosing your transporter. There are two main methods to shipping your motorcycle domestically:
Enclosed Trailers
An enclosed trailer is always the most expensive option out of the two. It does, however, offer much more protection and security from theft and damage. Many enclosed trailers will have a soft-tie strapping system with air-ride suspension. This will mean that there would be less shock on your bike during transit.
This would be the best choice for you if you’re:
- Shipping an expensive or fragile motorcycle
- Shipping over a long distance
- Not needing delivery by a specific date
Open Trailers
Open trailers are a popular option as they are economical, secure and easier to book. Your motorcycle will, however, be more susceptible to weather and debris damage.
This option is best if you’re:
- Shipping over a short distance
- On a strict deadline
Your motorcycle will be covered by the insurance held by the Carrier. It’s always a good idea, however, to discuss any limits to the coverage that is provided. Should you wish to add additional coverage for your vehicle, your transport company should be able to assist you with this prior to the pick-up date.
