Auto Shipping when Car Arrives Ahead of Schedule

What if my car arrives before I do?

If your car arrives before you do, plan who will receive it, inspect it and pay the Carrier. Pickup and delivery dates are estimates, so discuss your availability before booking. This guide explains representative and storage arrangements to confirm. Request a personalized car-shipping quote and tell Yellowfin about your delivery needs.

  • Discuss your delivery availability before booking.

Tell Yellowfin your preferred delivery dates and when you will be available. Under the current terms, requested dates and the Carrier’s projected pickup and delivery dates are not guaranteed. Weather, road conditions, mechanical issues and other delays can change the schedule. A date noted on your order or Dispatch Sheet does not make it guaranteed.

Once a Carrier is assigned, use the Carrier contact details provided to discuss arrival updates and any change in your availability. Yellowfin remains available in a secondary supportive role. Agree on a backup receiver before delivery; do not assume the driver can wait or that a different drop-off location will be available.

  • Delegate a Representative / Consignee

In those cases where you are unable to meet your Carrier within a reasonable timeframe, you can delegate someone you trust to be your representative at the time of delivery.

Give Yellowfin and the Carrier your representative’s name and a correct contact phone number in advance. Confirm any identification or authorization requirements directly rather than assuming an ID reference number is sufficient. Make sure your representative knows the agreed delivery location and can be reached.

Your representative should inspect the vehicle with the Carrier before signing the final Bill of Lading and note any transport damage on that report. Photographs can help document its condition. Arrange the balance due in cash or a cashier’s check, and confirm the Carrier’s preferred method and exact company name beforehand. Under the current terms, pay the shipment balance and contact the Carrier’s main office, then its insurer, about any damage claim.

  • Use Terminal Drop-Off facilities

If you cannot arrange a representative, ask Yellowfin and the Carrier whether a terminal drop-off or other storage arrangement is available for your shipment. Confirm the location, who may accept the vehicle, inspection paperwork, payment and any fees before agreeing. Availability is not guaranteed. Under the current terms, if neither you nor your representative can accept the vehicle or make proper payment on delivery, the Carrier may store it at a facility of its choice at your expense.

If you are considering terminal-to-terminal transport from the outset, confirm whether it is available for your route and how drop-off, collection and any storage charges would work. Request the actual pickup and delivery estimates for that arrangement; do not assume it will be faster or slower than another service.

How would you receive your vehicle from a Terminal?

Before agreeing to terminal collection, confirm the facility’s opening hours, release requirements, contact details and how you or your representative will inspect and collect the vehicle. For door-to-door service, a nearby meeting location may be required if the Carrier cannot safely access your address.

Confirm who will sign the delivery inspection report and when you can inspect the vehicle, rather than assuming a terminal attendant replaces that step. Obtain copies of the relevant paperwork and ask the facility about any daily storage charges. Do not assume that storage is free or that collection can be delayed without additional cost.
